Ladoga, Ind Sept 10 - Mrs. Culcina Ashby, aged 90 years, widow of Thompson V. Ashby died here this morning at 73 at the home of her daughters, Mrs. James Foster.  Mrs. Ashby has been in declining health for some time but the last illness dates back to a month ago when the decline seemed to hasten. The end came peacefully.  Mrs. Ashby was one of the pioneer mothers of the county.  She was Dulcina Lockridge before marriage, a daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Lockridge, a family prominent in the history of western Indiana. The family settled in the south part of Montgomery County in 1835 when the deceased was 10 years old. There were six children in the family, four girls and two bos.  All contributed a part in the creating and upbuilding of the community from its unbroken forests to the present standards of living.  Mrs. Ashby was the last to die of this interesting and prominent family.

In 1884 the deceased was married to Thompson V. Ashby, a member of a prominent family of pioneers and to them were born three children: Robert, William and Mrs. James Foster, all of this place.  Mr. Ashby died 12 years ago and since that time the widow has made her home with her children.  The funeral will be at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Foster on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock and will be conducted by Rev. NW Clar, pastor of the Presbyterian Church here with interment in the Ladoga cemetery.
